Busy Sewing Time

I have been a bit under the weather with a bout of vertigo and hay fever for a few days but that has not stopped me stitching. I saw these very reasonably priced gorgeous lamb/sheep embroidery designs over at Tiramisue2's Etsy shop and bought all four  sizes. I stitched them out of polar fleece. The 4x4 and 5x7 designs are perfect for pin cushions as well as children's softies. The larger pillows are done in the larger hoops. The two larger ones make great presents for a new baby. How good would they look with black faces? Think I might try the Santa face as well on the same Etsy page.

I have also finished putting together my version of Anita's (Chrystal Embroidery) quilt which Anita designed.
Vicki's Woodland Owl quilt

We both purchased the Woodland Owl designs from Hatched in Africa and Anita designed the background quilting blocks to go with them. Anita has the background quilting designs for the 8 inch (200mm) hoop on her website for sale. The versatile set has 36 designs and you can choose to stitch whichever you like. Anita used the square background designs (see below) whereas I chose the circle ones for 8 of the blocks and put one of the square ones in the centre. Anita also placed a red joining strip through the piano key border.

Anita's Quilt
The quilt is constructed in a quilt as you go technique with the backing added along with minimal extra quilting required to complete the 47 inch square quilt.

I am currently writing the tutorial for this quilt and it will be available for download with a link from the blog in the next day or so. I will endeavour to provide to provide the directions for Anita's smaller  41 inch square quilt as well.

You can see some of the block variations below.
