Big delivery day

16 quilts and 3 Santa sacks delivered to the Warrawe Women's Shelter this morning. It is intended that all of these will be given to families for Christmas.

Also had an urgent request from the LGH for fidget quilts so 11 were packaged up and after a few phone calls they will be delivered by way of a lovely friend tomorrow morning. My supply of quilts etc has now been exhausted for the present time so it is pedal to the metal with the sewing machines again.

It has been very warm here today so these gorgeous little goldfinches were very thankful for a cool drink from the fountain.

It has been a while

I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone and it is not as if I have been in paid employment. However, much has taken place. I will make this a short post

Another set of 15 quilts for the local women's shelter completed and in my mini pop up quilt show today.

I have been busily making and sending out over the last few weeks personalized remembrance sets for families who have angel babies. A few of the sets are below.

Quite a number of bags for women undergoing treatment for gynaecological cancer have also been distributed.

Update on lots of things including pop up quilt show

Once again time had got away from me in regards to keeping this blog updated.
Lots of things have been happening however.

Last Wednesday I had a mini pop up quilt show on my fence with the latest lot of quilts for our local women's shelter.

Most of the embroidery designs are from Hatched in Africa., It was wonderful to have some magnificent helpers with these quilts. I stitched out the embroideries and cut the fabrics into pieces to make the kits. The wonderful helpers then pieced the tops together for me and I then sandwiched, quilted and bound the quilts.

Don't forget most of the patterns for these quilt layouts are under the Free Project tab at the top of the page.

On Monday I was interviewed on radio about the pop up quilt show and you can listen to that interview HERE

Another lot of 30 fidget quilts have been stitched together and delivered to our major regional hospital and dementia service. Just a reminder there is also a tutorial for the fidget quilt pattern under the Free Project tab.

The BOM has been well and truly finished with all of the block files in the download folder. They will be removed just after Easter.

You can download the files from HERE

It was lovely to receive this feedback from this quilting group in Virginia

" Your Twisted Pole design has been a huge success with the attendees at the Life Long Learning (LLI) at Virginia Tech Beginning Quilting Class held in Blacksburg this semester! Attached are a few images from the class. So far all 15 participants have completed their tops (one has their border still to attach, but life happens). I will send images when we get to the final Show and Tell Thank you for the use of your design. As you can see, orange and maroon are the colors of Virginia Tech. "

I have also been busy giving presentations to various groups including the Tasmanian Quilting Guild and Zonta.

The instructions to date can be found in the download folder HERE. Hopefully the remainder will be in there over the following week or so.

I am currently in the process of making 30 or so fidget quilts for our major regional hospital. This is one of my ongoing projects and I am pleased to say that the make such a large difference to the experience of patients entering the hospital with dementia.
You can find my fidget quilt tutorial under the Free Pattern/Project Download tab at the top of this page. Fidget quilt construction is always a bit of chaos in the sewing room.

Our charity sewing group has been assembling quilt tops ready for me to sandwich and quilt for our local women's shelter. Some of them to date are shown below.

Some of you sent me a message to say that you could not view the video on You Tube that was made for the Australian of the Year awards for my work with Bridie's Blossoms . Hopefully you can view it here on Facebook even if you are not a member of FB. Click  HERE not on the photo below.

I have also been busy over the past few days making some bags to be filled with care items for patients undergoing cancer treatment on the NW Coast of Tasmania. The black and white bag for males features a lovely vintage car design.

Tutorials have been written for both of these bags and they can be accessed from HERE.

Bridie's Blossoms memory packages have been sent out to many families who have have been left heartbroken  after their little angels have grown their angel wings. These are just two of them.

Fidget quilts are still being constructed for the use of dementia patients especially for the Launceston General Hospital, our large regional hospital in the north of Tasmania.

Remember I have a tutorial for making these and they are on the project download page as well.

At the end of January it was my great honour to travel to Canberra to represent Tasmania as the 2019 Tas Local Hero. What a fantastic jam packed few days we had. We were privileged to attend an outdoor reception hosted by Governor General and a morning tea hosted by the  Prime Minister and his wife.On Saturday morning we attended the Flag Raising Ceremony on Australia Day. It was indeed to honour to spend time with some many inspirational Australians.
