In a quandary-To buy or not to buy
I have spent the last few months pondering on whether I should buy another embroidery machine before I retire. At the present I have a Janome 300E, 2 Janome 11000's and a Janome horizon 7700. (I have a few others as well) I am thinking that I would like a multi needle machine and so I am considering the Brother PR 1000. Mind you also on the list are the Janome 12000, Husqvarna Designer Diamond and the Brother 6 needle which I can new for $10 000. Any ideas?

I bought a Bernina 830 when I retired 1 1/2 years ago and just love it! It can embroidery and also do quilting for you. You can combine stitches right at the machine without going into software. It is a big machine (38 lbs) but it is so good!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion the Pfaff Creative Sensation would be a wonderful machine. It is very similar to the Designer Diamond except that it also has the built in feeding system called IDT. The folks who have bought Pfaff's swear by it and say they will never switch to another machine. Since you do so much quilting and bag making I would think you would love this.
I recently purchased a gently used Creative Vision 5.5 after owning a close to top of the line Brother 2800 and I am amazed at what the Pfaff can do. I learn something new and amazing almost every time I use it.
I had my heart set on purchasing the Viking Ruby but on the advice of my mother who owns the Pfaff I stopped to look at the Creative Vision on the way to the Viking dealer to make my purchase of the Ruby. After spending 15 minutes looking at the Pfaff I purchased it and I'm so happy I did.
There, VSP should hire me to be a marketing person for them after that spiel.
Good luck and have fun making your decision!
Molly
I don't know about those machines but I'm in love with my 830E Bernina. It does all I want it to do.
ReplyDeleteVicki, I also have Janome combo machines: 11000se and 9700. My husband bought me the Brother Entrepreneur PR1000e for Christmas. I LOVE IT! It was quite intimidating right at first, but I have managed to get lots of things embroidered that weren't really possible on my flat bed Janome combo machines. I love my Janomes both for sewing and embroidery. In my opinion, Janomes have the best stitch quality on the market...and that's after testing quite a few of the "prestige" brands.
ReplyDeleteI would pass on the Diamond. I have been a Viking person for 30 years, but regret buying the Diamond. I think the quality is lacking. The large hoop was the primary reason I purchased and for that I like it. But I don't think the machine is made as solidly as the D1 and SE. I really wish I had saved and bought the Bernina 830. I got a fabulous deal on the use Diamond and it sews ok. But they dummy-proofed it and those features really annoy me!!
ReplyDeleteMy recommendation would be the Bernina!
