More Reflections on Hexagons Table toppers

Both of the Reflections on Hexagons Table toppers are finished. Now it is off to write up the instructions. It was hard trying to decide which layout to go with for the smaller topper from the many layout possibilities that you can come up with.

Apart from looking lovely on our inside tables they are also perfect for a small outside table as they stay firmly in place even when the wind is blowing.

Hopefully the tutorial will be up on the blog over the weekend so keep an eye out. It was hard trying to decide which layout to go with from the many layout possibilities that you can come up with. You do not need a 60 degree triangle template to make these toppers.

Reflections on Hexagons Table Toppers

I have just finished the first of my simple no fuss, no special ruler Reflections on Hexagons table toppers. I will not be writing up the instructions into a tutorial until I explore a few more size options and layouts. The topper measures 40 inches across the widest point. Stay tuned for more updates over the next few days.

New Table Runner Tutorial

I have spent the last few days designing and making this new table runner that I have called the Friendship Star table runner as it uses the Friendship Star quilt block. I noticed that it gives the same sort of twisted effect as my Pole Twist table runner when I was doing the last BOM.

The finished table runner measure 541/2 inches long and is 20 inches wide. Of course it can easily be made smaller or longer.

You can download the tutorial from HERE.

Make sure you read the conditions of download on the right hand side of the blog.

I will be working on a new table topper over the next few days so keep tuned.

Projects completed and reflection

I am very remiss in not updating the blog page but many of you know that I do more frequent Facebook updates these days.

Last Friday I had my second 3 month check up following my surgery for uterine cancer back in June. I am pleased to say that I passed the check with flying colours and so it is onwards and upwards until the next one in April.

The week leading up to these checks is always one filled with apprehension and sleepless nights so I was very pleased when Bonnie Hunter released the final installment of her mystery quilt on New Year's Day and I was able to finish it off. Called En Provence I changed the colour palette I was using to the blues, beiges and browns and that I used in the 13th Anniversary BOM I also completed at the end of last year. One of the quilts will be for me bed and other for a spare bed. I have made new curtains/ drapes for those rooms and the quilts were made with those rooms in mind. You can view other En Provence Mystery Quilts from Bonnie's link up HERE

If you haven't received all of the instructions for the BFC 13th Anniversary BOM you can email me and I will send you a link to download them.

As many of you know for 6 months of the year we do penguin guiding and for the past few months we have been captivated by the many baby penguins that we see being hatched and leave the colony.

Our Tasmanian hospitals were restocked at the end of last year with my Bridie's Blossoms packages and just getting started on making a new supply of them. Each new package now also has keepsake key fobs in them.

I have one more unit to complete in the Diploma of Family History that I have been studying through the University of Tasmania and that should be finished by mid year which means I will once more get to attend graduation nearly 40 years since I received by Bachelor of Science and Diploma of Education back in the late 1970's.

Pat Sloan is hosting a 182 Day Solstice Challenge where she provides instructions to make a quilt block every Wednesday for 6 months. I am going to participate in this challenge but I am a bit slow getting started with this one.
