I have uploaded the tutorial of this table runner I made for my daughter to put on the table in her new house. She purchased the table setting from the former owners and I think it will add a fresh modern touch to the setting. The table runner is another variation of the 10 minute table runner with this one being 11 inches longer than the standard size. I have used a set of designs from BFC Creations called Sheer Quilt Blocks. The tutorial can be found HERE.
Yesterday was the first Saturday I have had in quite a while where I did not have to spend anytime doing marking, lesson prep etc for school. I spent the day watching a bit of the Olympics opening ceremony and then sent out lessons for the two BOM's that I have going. I am also making a table runner for my daughter's new house that she bought and moves into this week. The table runner is a longer version of the 10 minute table runner and I will have a tutorial up on the blog later on today if eveything gores to plan.
I have just sent out the first Block in my new BOM using the Blackwork Giraffes from BFC Creations.
Luckily my email is back up and working but it jolted me into making a complete back up of everything on my computer, something we forget to do.
I will now be busy working on both the BOM, especially as I wait until September for the Moda Chateau Rouge yardage to arrive for the Hen House Antique Squares BOM.
Email me if you wish to be a part of either of these BOM's.
Last night I lost my outlook mail file for some reason. My husband spent the day repairing it and trying to get it back up and running and luckily it is. I think I have lost about 12 hours of emails at least. If you have emailed me and I have not replied it is probably due to your email still floating around in the infinite ether never to make it to my keyboard.
When I got up this morning and checked my computer I found a gorgeous new Black work Giraffe set at BFC-Creations. I will be doing a BOM with these designs. If you wish to sign up please drop me an email HERE.
I have just sent out Block 3 in our Antique Rose Squares BOM. This BOM is a little bit different from my others as I am also incorporating some pieced blocks.
It is still dark when I get up and nearly dark when I get home from school so I am looking forward to the spring. Already have some lovely camellia blooms in the garden and some King Alfred daffodils have made an appearance with their cheerful blooms.
This time next year I will be retired and wont have to make such an early appearance.
Finally have my reports finished and the new timetable is ready to go on Monday so a couple of long hard weeks at school have finished until the next thing crops up! I hope to get back to our Antique Roses BOM this weekend.
I have a couple of things to share with you that I have found during the week that you may be interested in.
The latest edition of the free digtial Down Under Quilts Magazine is available and you can click on the pic above if you do not have a free subscription to go to the sign up page.
The Missouri Star Quilt Co has a great new tutorial. It is called Katie's Quilt. This quilt would be a great starter quilt or an easy baby gift if downsized. Love the fabric, think it is Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille Moda
Hatched in Africa have placed a link on their website for their Thumb Tack hooping method. If you have trouble multi -hooping it is worth a look.
Kaz from Designs in Stitches has a great free balloon alphabet set in progress and that is worth collecting. While you are there check out her other free alpha sets.
After the excitement of meeting the leader of our country on Friday I settled down to doing some of our BOM and have posted the latest block out to those who are participating. This is the first time that I have actually combined pieced patchwork blocks with embroidered blocks so it is a bit of a jigsaw.
Although we still have 9 weeks or so before spring I noticed that the first daffodil has appeared in our garden. We normally have early jonquils but this is a King Alfred daffodil. Will post a piclater on in the week.
Today was a very exciting day at school. The Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard came to visit our school. The students were excited as were the staff. I had my photo taken with her as we both share the same birthday.
It is now Friday evening and I am looking forward to doing some sewing over the weekend as reports are basically done and dusted as far as writing them goes.
