New BOM

Block 1 of my new free BOM using  the Hatched In Africa's Toys For Boys set of designs has been sent out to those on my email list who have  sent in a request to do this quilt. I think this is going to be a very eye catching quilt because of the bright colours.

I still have some bird pics to share with you. These are more pics of the magpie family. The adults are distinctly black and white whilst the juveniles are more grey and white.

This is a pied currawong. They are about the same size and ook like a magpie but have less white. They also have a black beak and a yellow eye. We had many frosts in Canberra and they used their beaks to break the ice in the bird baths.

Finishes and starts

I have this afternoon sent out the last two files in the BFC 10 000 member BOM. Block 14 and the construction file.

Shirley has sent in a pic of her blocks to date. I have said it many times and will continue to say it. We all just love to see the fabric and thread colours that everyone else uses.

I have stitched out the first few designs for the new Hatched in Africa Toys for Boys quilt BOM that I am doing and the requirement has been sent out to those who have signed up for this free BOM. At the time of writing  this post I have 135 people on my list. All going well, the first block will be sent out tomorrow. Email me if you wish to be a part of this new BOM.

Tineke has also sent in a pic of her Polka Dot Giraffe quilt. Tineke used the same fabric I did for the borders and last time I looked it was still available in our local Spotlight store. Remember this one of pour recent BOM projects.

I promised to post some more pics of the birds that were in the garden whilst we were in  Canberra. Below are pics of  magpies having a lovely time under the hose we put on to water in the new plants we had just planted in the garden. These birds are very vicious during the breeding season and will swoop and dive bomb anyone who happens by but this little family of two adults and 2 juveniles were having a great time. They took turns and kept us entertained for quite some time.

Any interest in a new BOM?

Just a quick blog post this morning.

I have just been looking at a new set called Toys for Boys from Hatched in Africa and was wondering if anyone was interested in a new BOM with these designs. It is not often we get something we can do for boys. Please email me if you are interested.

It is a bit frosty here this morning and my fingers are not working too well. Hard to gt out of bed. You know it is cold when the cats are still hugging the bed at 7.30. On the plus side it is going to be a bright and clear day.

More work on quilt blocks

I promised to show you the colourways that Elizabeth and Lexie are doing for their  BFC 10 000 member BOM. These ladies meet at my house each Tuesday afternoon and work on our BOM projects.  Elizabeth has chosen a gorgeous batik colourway and Lexie has found some florals from her stash, I am sure that we all have these types of fabrics that have been in our cupboards for quite some time. They both look fabulous. You will notice that Elizabeth's  Block 4 layout is a little different from the one I sent out. Elizabeth cut one side of her block too small so we just added another row of fabrics on the left hand side to make a checker board effect.

Block 12 has just now been sent out to those who are on my list.

Here are some more pics of the birds which visited our daughter's garden in Canberra last week. These are crimson rosellas. The one with a bit more green is the juvenile. There was a family of four that visited most days.

Things are back to normal (as can be)

We are home from our little trip to Canberra to visit our daughter. We had a lovely time watching all the birds as they visited the garden each day. I will upload more pics over the next few days. The pics below are of a sulphur crested cockatoo of which there are numerous flying around.

I still have four more blocks blocks to send out for the BFC 10 000 anniversary BOM and hope to have that done over the next few days as well. Blocks 1-11 have already been sent out. For those who have missed it here is the finished quilt top.

The weather is rainy and dreary so little else to do apart from inside work. I still have some of the boxes that are given to our local hospitals for their angel babies to line with the satin and embroidered quilts so still plenty to keep me occupied.

Just a reminder that I make more frequent updates to my new Facebook page that you can find here. Remember this is a public page so even if you do not have Facebook you can still read the posts to it.

Off to Canberra

We are off to  Canberra today for 10 days. The kitties will have their live in nanny while we are away. I will probably make some  Facebook posts if I don't have the opportunity to do some blog posts. Think the mornings have been about -5C there.

Facebook Page

Now that the hurly burly of the production is over I have finally set up a Facebook page for the blog. It will take me a while to get the hang of posting on it but as I come across bits and pieces I can post them more quickly. You can access the page here. I hope to set it up so that the blog posts will also go to the Facebook page.
