Brr its cold

Today is the first day of winter here in Australia and it is very frosty here in Devonport this morning. I have ventured out to take a pic of the BFC 10 000 member BOM quilt top that I have finished. Instructions for Block 1-10 have been sent out.

The house resembles a Chinese laundry as all of the costumes are washed and put into storage. Have yet to tackle the bobby socks bucket.

We are nearly there

Wow, it has been 10 days since my last blog post. We have 3 more shows to go and then packing up, moving out of the theatre and all the washing to do. Last weekend I washed and ironed over 80 pieces of costume in the 3 day lay off we had from the evening show on Saturday night until the show this Wednesday just gone.
These are just a few of the pics I have to show you. The ones below were taken by Jake Jacobson of , JJJ photography Ulverstone.

The dresses below were designed from pics I had seen of haute couture dresses from the 50's.

I have finished making all the blocks for the BFC 10 000 member BOM and here is a sneak peek.

I will try and get Block 7 out to everyone over the weekend. On Thursday the fur babies have their live in babysitter come to stay while we head off to Canberra for 10 days.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We have had two shows of all shook Up so far with 8 more to go. Four at the end of this week and four next week. You can view some of the pics here.  There is also a lovely review in the Australian national stage magazine called Stage Whispers.
Sunday was spent washing and ironing many costumes so they are now ready for tomorrow night.

Block 3 has been sent out in the BFC 10 000 member BOM.

Here are Elizabeth's Block 1 and Block 2. Love the colours.

Lexie has just finished all of her blocks for the BFC Anniversary quilt for her daughter. Here are some of her blocks. Once again gorgeous colours.
Have been working away on Bridie's Blossoms packages so they they are ready for when they are requested. Just have to crochet the booties and make some clothing pieces.
I also need to share with you a recipe for a delicious slice that is easy to make, and little prep with no washing up. I have made it twice now for our Tuesday afternoon sewing get togethers. It is called The Town Bike Slice (not my name by the way). Once you have made it you can see how easy it is to change it up with different ingredients such as dried fruit, rolled oats etc.

Opening Night is HERE

Tonight is opening night of All Shook Up so we will have some very excited cast members as they hit the stage with their first paying audience.

Two of our cast members were also interviewed on the radio this morning and sang one of their songs. Have a listen. Two very talented men.

I am working on making some Bridie's Blosssom's packages so that I have some on hand. Will get back to our BOM early next week and will get the next block out by Monday hopefully.

Countdown to opening night

Well opening night is only 5 nights away and it has been full on hectic with dress rehearsals etc. Over the weekend we went into the theatre at lunch time and came out in total darkness. I am very pleased with the way my colours have come together with the set and the cast look amazing when they are all together. It will be a very busy week up until after the show on Saturday night and then we have two more weeks after that. A couple of hectic moments where 7 people have to completely change their costume into wedding attire between 2 minutes and 15 seconds and 1 minute and 10 seconds.

On Saturday before rehearsal we too out daughter to the airport to catch her flight home after she had been home with us for 10 days. On the way back we saw these black swans all lined up in a nearby field.

A big week ahead

Tomorrow is 'bump in day" for our show where all of the set , costumes etc are transported and set up  in the theatre. I daresay there will be many trips in the car and lots of loading and unloading of costumes.

Block 2 of the BFC 10 000 member BOM was sent out to those on the emailing list last week. Please let me know if you did not receive it, especially if you are an AOL subscriber.

From the Needle of Anne have a lovely little freebie for Mother's Day. It may not be new but there may be some who do not have this versatile sweet little design.

The Bernina blog has quite a few new freebies. Scroll through the pages. Many of the freebie links are in red font if you cannot translate the page.  There is an ITH Teddy on this page. There are instructions on how to digitize it yourself but if you scroll to the bottom of the page and find the words  Baer_gross and Baer_klein you can download the completed designs.

There is a children's alpha but as it is not in English so the objects to go with the letters do not correspond as we know them.

These lovely design are on the wedding page along with the pattern for the wedding dress.

We have had a beautiful rising moon tonight as the wisps of cloud passed in front of it.

For those ladies living on mainland Australia and who visit a Spotlight store near you fairly regularly could you please email me as I am looking for more of the fabric I use for my Bridie's Blossoms packages.
