Things to share

Wednesday my Mum had a girl's day out and on the way I delivered 8 more Bridie's Blessings quilts to the local women's shelter. I was able to complete this many as I was given some orphan blocks and ufo quilt tops. There is still that many more to quilt and finish off.

At lunch time today my husband and I drove a relative to the nearby airport. On the way out we saw these swans and other water birds having a lovely time feeding in this beautiful vibrant green field with the black cows and their calves. You can just see the lovely little calves with the cows if you look closely.

Elizabeth has also completed the top half of her Embellished Dogs quilt.

I need to take a breath

Some of you may I have thought I had dropped off the end of the earth ,well not quite even though I live just about at the bottom of the globe here in Tasmania.

Last week I put together 19 quilt tops for our Bridie's Blessing quilts for women's shelters project. My neighbour had a clean pout and generously gifted some embroidered blocks UFO's that I have finished and put together into quilt tops. I did start pressing them and getting the backings ready to sandwich them on Monday moring when I had a phone call.

One of the two hospitals in the region had let their Bridie's Blossoms packages get down and they needed them replenished asap so have been flat chat on those all week. Will deliver this next lot of thirteen packages tomorrow and then it will be back to the quilts.

Sorry about the shiny packaging in the pic but it is winter here and dark  at 7.15 at night so had to put the light on.

I do have the next couple of blocks ready to write up the instructions for the Embellished Dog BOM  quilt. Here is a pic of the cats quickly racing to see what those dogs were doing in this house!

New BOM and another Embellished Cats Block

First up I have started another BOM. This one will defiitely be a BOM not Block of the Week like as I  often have ben doing. With all of my Bridie's Blossoms and Blessings projects on the go I will only be doing one of these at least every three weeks or so.

I have been eying off the Stack 'Em Animals design set  from Hatched in Africa for a week or so since they were released and decided last night to go with them. There are quite a feew elements in the design set and that makes it ideal for a block of the month quilt. As you can see I am going to use bright colours with my quilt but if you wanted to do more subtle pastel colours that would definitely be fine. I think that with a more bright colour scheme the quilt will lend itself to older age groups as well. The quilt will be a single or twin size.

There are already over 50 people signed up to participate in this BOM and if you wish to also join us please email me using the link on the right hand side of this page.

I have also completed Block 7 of the Embellished Cats BOM and will be sending out instructions for that later on tonight
