Blackwork Birds Block 3 and Counting Down

Block 3 in the Blackwork Birds BOM has been sent out and I am starting my retirement count down in earnest with 17 more working days to go. I have ordered my grey fabric for the mystery quilt over at Quiltville and there is also a link up so that people can post their progress for others to see.

Lazy weekend

Sunday is coming to a close and I have had a very lazy weekend. Yesterday I went looking for a bit of fabric as I am going to have a go at doing someone else's mystery quilt. I am an avid fan of Bonnie Hunter over at Quiltville and she is running a mystery quilt called Easy Street. The first lesson is out but of course I do not have any grey and I want to use her palette of lime greens, purples, aqua and Black and White, just all my favourite colours.

 

I have also done some more crazy quilt blocks and hope to get another of those out to those participating during the week. I have sewn four of the blocks together to make the top left hand corner.

Block 3 of the BFC Blackwork Birds quilt is also planned  and just has to be sewn and the instructions done.

 

Last night we went to help with guiding  visitors at the Little Penguin area and it was just magical as we can now see 12 chicks at various stages of growth from the viewing platform as they eagerly wait for their parents to bring them back their daily meal of regurgitated fish.

I have just sent out Block 6 in our Crazy Quilt BOM using Kenny Kreations Crazy Quilt designs.We now have the blocks needed to place 4 together in the top left hand corner of the quilt.

Antique Rose Quilt Finished

I have had a very productive week. I finished a quilt for my secret buddy at school and cannot show you that until after I have given it to them on our final day for the year which will also be my final day at work!

I have also finished the quilting and binding of the Antique Rose Quilt and sent out the final lesson for that BOM which has now come to a close. This quilt was constructed using Hen House Embroidery designs and Moda Chateau Rouge by French General fabrics.

I spent most of Sunday finishing the quilting and binding on the Blackwork Zebra BOM quilt and have sent out the final  instructions to all of those who had signed up to do that quilt. My aim for this week is to get the Antique Rose BOM quilt finished and the final instructions completed as well.In the meantime it is back to school but there are only 29 more school days left including today.

Weekend Sewing Frenzy-new BOM underway

I am starting to feel better and with that I have had a weekend where lots of sewing has got done. Hopefully the zebra quilt will be finished by the end of the day today and the instructions for the final construction of that will go out. I also spent the day yesterday doing the first block in the new BFC Creations Blackwork Birds quilt using the free design being given away in their 9th Anniversary celebrations. I am changing these up a little by adding a hint of red to each embroidery and also to the black and white colour palette. If you wish to join this free BOM please send me an email .

Battling On and Great Surprise in the Mail

It has now been two weeks since I picked this cold/sinus bug and I do not seem to be getting much better. Consequently not much sewing has been done. However, I did have a glorious surprise. A box arrived in the email from Dawn, one of the ladies who participates in all of my BOM's etc. She sent me an astounding selection of moiree fabric to include in my crazy quilt squares. It was just the perfect thing to come home to after feeling under the weather all day at school. I did spend the  long weekend we had doing my 100 or so end of year school reports so that was a good job out of the way. Hopefully it will be back to stitching before the not too near distant future.
