Candlewick Quilt in Progress

Candlewick quilt in progress
Today has been a fruitful day as I have started putting the candlewick quilt together and thinking of a border. Two lessons have been sent out to those who have signed up to receive them. Lesson three will be sent out tonight if everything goes to plan.

I am trying to source some black lace so that I can have a go at doing the same quilt layout with black background fabric.

Yesterday was a wet and miserable day with rain just falling down at times. It was good to get home at the end of a long teaching week.

My plans for the weekend are to keep working on the candlewick quilt along and prepare the tutorial for the various quilt as you go techniques you can use for this quilt.
I would love to do a video tutorial but I do not think my husband is up to speed with the camera yet.

I have taken some close up pics of the blocks as they stitch out with just the fabric and batting hooped. You get a lovely puffed up quilted effect and lots of dimension and texture added to your blocks before they are quilted.

I have just sent out the requirements list for my new Candlewick Quilt along. Hopefully the next instalment which will be a quilt as you go tutorial will be sent out over the weekend. I am starting 2 weeks of school holidays starting Friday of next week so the candlewick quilt will be one of the projects I will work on.
If you wish to be a part of the quilt along you can email here to be added to the email list.

New Quilt in Progress- anyone interested in a quilt along?

Candlewick Quilt

Back of quilt as you go block
I started a new quilt this afternoon. It is a candlewick using the new candlewick designs from Kenny Kreations. I have been meaning to make a candlewick quilt for some time and have had the lace and ribbon I intended to use for some time.

This quilt is a similar layout to the Kenny Kreations Royal Reflections quilt but I am putting a new tilt on it , having done the Royal Reflections quilt. The blocks are all on point and the centre ones are combined. I am making this quilt, quilt as you go using a couple of different  easy techniques I have merged together with no hand sewing.

The designs are on special at the moment and if the budget is tight you could do the quilt with just 3 designs with Block 5 being one of them.

I plan to do this quilt as a quilt along so if you want to be a part of it please drop me an email and I will send out instructions as I do them.

Blooming Art Nouveau Quilt-Tutorial uploaded

Blooming Art Nouveau Quilt
The tutorial for the Blooming Art Nouveau quilt can be found HERE. I have included instructions using each of the design sizes. The designs are from Embroidery Library and I have used Moda Ruby fabric.

The Blooming Art Nouveau quilt has already gone to a new home. I have given it one of the office ladies in our school and she was very happy with it.

I have had a busy week coordinating the national testing of literacy and numeracy in our school this week so little time for sewing . I hope to get back to it this weekend but do have lots of maths test papers to mark as well.

I have just finished stitching on the binding of the Blooming Art Nouveau quilt and thought I would upload a pic before I headed off to school for the day. I will have a tutorial for the quilt construction on the blog in the next day or so and will post a link to it when I have it done.

Lesson 4 Bodice Overlay

I have just out the latest lesson in the christening gown online class. This lesson is the bodice overlay.

My husband has also been keeping a visual diary of the appearance of a lovely little crop of orange toadstools in our front yard under a silver birch tree. Here is just one of the pics and I will add more during the week.

Blooming Art Nouveau Quilt in progress
I have stitched out a couple of blocks of a new quilt project I had in mind. I am using the Blooming Art Nouveau embroidery designs from Embroidery Library and with a coupon for the weekend the designs were $1 each making a grand total of $9 for the designs to do the 9 block quilt. The quilt is only made up of one block, the snowball block.I have used some of the left over strips from the Moda Ruby packs that I had and will add the same borders as for the Paisley Parade quilt. I have stitched the blocks in a pink toned red and they have turned out beautifully stitched on my new Pr 1000 of course. I will do a tutorial on how to make this block using the 3 different sized embroideries available.

I have also finished binding the Blackwork Roses and will have a pic up of that tomorrow.

Trip to Agfest

Agfest crowds
This morning my husband and I got up early and travelled up to the Agfest event. This event organised by the Rural Youth Rrganisation of Tasmania is in its 30th year and although originally designed to showcase rural industries, businesses etc it has now grown to now cater for all members of the community with lifestyle exhibits as well. You can buy just about anything from a truck or tractor to an mebroidery machine or heirloom sewn nightdress in the craft arena. I have taken some pics to share with you.

These lovely alpacas were quite oblivious to all the people

Dorper Lambs
These beautiful little lambs are a variety called dorper and have black heads. The rest of their body is the normal sheep colour.

These two guide dog puppies in training were having a lovely time. They have such a beautiful temperament. They would have had a over a thousand pats in the last three days.  The lovely dog below did not quite make it as a guide dog so is now the ambassador and visits displays such as this.

You could buy some large irrigation pipes
 or a swim spa.

There was a large vintage machinery display and they were working

Whimsical display
This is just a small section of the huge carpark which was on grass. Luckily we took a change of shoes to change back into when we got back in to the car.

On the way home we spotted this truck for sale. It was just parked on this overpass with a sign on it.

Blackwork Roses BOM Quilt Top-completed

Blackwork Roses Quilt top
I have finished piecing together the blackwork roses quilt top tonight and have added the borders. Hopefully I can begin to get it sandwiched together tomorrow and then I can start to quilt it . Unfortunately I do not have much energy after teaching all day.
I still have to send out the instructions for the  last block (the double block in the lower left hand corner) and also the final construction lesson.
My apologies for a less than perfect picture.
